THE FOCUS FOR OPTIMIZE MIND PERFORMANCE (OMP) WAS TO PROVIDE AN ACCESSIBLE MENTAL SKILLS SOLUTION FOR ATHLETES. WE DESIGNED A DASHBOARD, WHERE AUDIO CONTENT CAN BE UPLOADED AND SHARED DIRECTLY TO THE APP.

Problem Statement:
Athletes experience tremendous pressure throughout their careers. Finding
a balance with a busy training schedule and everyday life can mean building
mental skills doesn’t always fit into their priorities.
The many highs and lows that athletes experience suggests there is a demand
for an on the go mental skills tool. Something an athlete can access with
ease, at any time of the day. A tool where they can check in and document how
they are feeling and find resources to help them build towards their goals.
SOLUTION:
A digital solution that athletes can easily access. An app where they can
listen to a range of content that is specific to different focus areas and
sports. The content is created by the best mental skills coaches across the
globe. The connecting Dashboard also allows the organisation to create their
own content, view statistics on their users, and show and hide content to users.
Our Process:
The onboarding process was identified as being key to providing the athlete with
content they are most interested in. We noticed in our research that competitors
either didn’t allow for any customisation, forcing the user to search for content,
or, the preferences were hidden within the settings. Our goal was to improve the
athletes' experience whilst using the app, and presenting them with valuable content
from the beginning. We broke this down into gender, birthday, country and most
importantly, sport interests and desired areas for mental performance improvements.
As the onboarding process in general requires some effort from the user and input
fields, we decided to present them in a simple list format to improve the user
experience and make it as seamless as possible.
Shakewell Agency was tasked with producing this app and dashboard, from designs
to development.
- The App Challenge:
- The application needed to host audio content, with varying categories. The design team recognised the need for the app to be easily navigated, with the ability to find specific content. For example, a use case may be that an athlete is feeling unmotivated and has an important game coming up. We needed the design to allow the athlete to access specific content categories with ease.
- The Dashboard Challenge:
- OMP appeals to organisations such as schools, universities, sporting groups, professional athletic individuals and teams, and many more. The dashboard needed multiple levels of functionality for organisations, teams, sports, groups and individuals. This project involved research, complex thinking and collaboration across all teams to create a user friendly functionality. Due to the various organisations, the Dashboard had to accommodate their needs. This challenge meant that we worked closely with the client, to gain a sound knowledge of the various requirements.
