PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Riptide are a broadcasting & media production company who specialise in Bodyboaring content. They began as a print magazine in 1989 and have since changed their focus to be digital.
The content types of Riptide have recently expanded beyond that of Print magazine, to include video as well as merchandise.
Riptide needed a platform where users could browse all content types, stream videos and cinema pieces, purchase merch, and digitally view new magazine releases as well as past versions.
SOLUTION:
After extensive discovery to understand the target demographic, Shakewell determined that it was necessary to create a website and an App.
The Website was designed to operate in the same way as a streaming service. Meaning users are invited to create a profile, add a profile pic, choose their subscription, and manage billing details. Within their profile they’re also able to view their play history and save their favourite titles to their list.
Categorised content means the Riptide team are able to curate content categories which appeal to their audience. Users can scroll through title by category, see recommended/features picks from the riptide team, or search for the title they desire.
Users can also view past issues of the magazine which were previously only available in print.
The addition of e-commerce on the ‘Shop’ page allows users to browse and purchase
riptide merchandise directly from the website.
The Riptide App provides users with seamless access to the entire comprehensive web range of content, including web pieces, podcasts, movies, and galleries.
In addition to all the website features, an App user can also download content to their device to watch at a later time or when in offline/flight mode, and they can bookmark a page of the magazine issue they’re reading.
