Case study
INTELSAT – CONTENT PORTAL
Shakewell designed, developed and deployed a secure Content Portal for Intelsat that provides customers with personalised access to technical publications. The platform includes advanced entitlement rules, robust role-based access control, seamless content organisation, and administrative reporting—enabling a scalable digital library tailored to each customer’s equipment and purchases.
At a glance
- Core capability: purchase-driven entitlement, role-based access control, administrative reporting
- Phases: discovery, design, development
The problem
Intelsat needed a better way for customers to access user manuals, service bulletins and other technical content. Existing systems lacked customer self-service and could not support secure, configuration-specific access to documents. Internally, sales and marketing teams also needed a way to promote new services to the right audiences.
Our approach
We delivered the portal in three structured phases.
Discovery defined technical requirements, user flows and business rules with stakeholders, producing wireframes for core journeys, mid-fidelity designs, and a technical analysis report covering cloud infrastructure, entitlement logic and integration needs.
Design and development focused on an interface that worked for both internal and external users, secure access driven by purchase entitlements, role-based views separating technical content from marketing material and configuration-specific assets, and a cloud hosting architecture meeting the security requirements.
The outcome
A secure portal giving customers personalised access to the publications they are entitled to, with the entitlement rules, access control and reporting needed to run it at scale.
