Web platforms
Node.js Development
Node.js is where we build the connective tissue: APIs that serve a mobile app and a website from one place, integrations between systems that were never designed to talk, and services that need to push updates the moment something changes.

What we build with it
APIs for apps and front ends
One API serving an iOS app, an Android app and a web front end, so a change to business logic ships once instead of three times. Typically paired with a React Native app or a Next.js front end.
Integrations between systems
ERP, POS, freight, payments, CRM and marketing platforms rarely integrate cleanly on their own. Node services sit between them, translating and reconciling — with retries and visibility when an upstream system is down.
Real-time and event-driven services
Where a page cannot wait for a refresh: live venue data, order and delivery status, notifications. Event-driven services that push the change rather than making the client poll for it.
Serverless on AWS
As an AWS Partner we run Node workloads the way the job warrants — Lambda and serverless APIs where traffic is spiky, long-running services where it is steady, and cost-tuned either way.
The proof
Work we have shipped, not a capability deck.

Common questions
What do you use Node.js for?
APIs and services, real-time features such as notifications and live updates, integration layers between systems that were never designed to talk to each other, and scheduled processing. It is often the connective tissue in a platform rather than the whole platform.
Node.js or Laravel for our backend?
Both are solid choices and we build in both. Node suits real-time and heavily I/O-bound workloads, and keeps one language across front and back end. Laravel gives you more structure out of the box for conventional business applications — admin, permissions, queues, reporting. Existing team skills are a legitimate tiebreaker.
Do you work with clients outside Sydney?
Our head office is in Sydney and we work with clients across Australia — Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and regional NSW included. Delivery has been remote-first for years, so a project runs the same way whether you are ten minutes away or in another state: scheduled calls, a shared board you can see at any time, and one named point of contact. We are happy to meet in person in Sydney.
Engagement models
How we work
Four straightforward ways to engage us. Pick the one that fits, or mix them as your needs change.
Staff Augmentation
Add experienced Shakewell developers, designers or specialists directly to your own team. Engagements typically run three to twelve months, but can be as short or long as you need — you get the skills without the commitment and cost of hiring full-time.
About staff augmentationFixed-Scope Projects
Have a defined outcome in mind? We scope it, price it and deliver it as a project — a clear timeline, agreed milestones and a single point of accountability from kickoff to handover.
Embedded Delivery Teams
For larger or longer-running work, a cross-functional Shakewell team — development, design and delivery management — plugs in as your delivery arm, working to your priorities and your reporting cadence.
Support & Maintenance
Already live? We keep websites, stores and apps secure, updated and performing through ongoing retainers — business-hours support as standard, with 24/7 coverage available for critical issues.
