Hay St Market

Doltone Hospitality Group engaged Shakewell to design and develop the website for Hay St Market, Sydney’s newest food and beverage destination. Built using Laravel and Next.js, the site integrates with systems like Chewsie and Ticket Booth to support ordering and event ticketing. The result is a high-performance platform that powers a seamless, branded experience for customers and operators alike.

The problem

With the acquisition of Hay St Market, Doltone Hospitality Group envisioned a lively precinct inspired by world-renowned food markets. Realising it needed a website that could showcase multiple food and drink offerings, handle online ordering and event ticketing, and carry the weight of a public launch.

Our approach

A custom build serving as the digital gateway to the precinct, covering research and design through to build, QA and deployment.

Design started from DHG’s market research, site plans and brand assets, producing UX-focused wireframes and high-fidelity designs modularised into flexible content blocks, plus a scalable component library for fast development and future reuse.

The build paired a Laravel and Nova backend (reusable data models, secure admin) with a Next.js front end carrying brand-aligned visuals and performance-optimised components, integration readiness for Chewsie, SwiftPOS and Ticket Booth, and automated deployment pipelines.

The outcome

A high-performance platform that supports a seamless experience for visitors browsing vendors, ordering food and booking events, built to carry a launch rather than merely survive one.
