Shopify Development
A Shopify development team for Australian retailers who've outgrown the template. We build conversion-focused Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts, integrate them with the systems behind the business, and migrate complex stores off Magento and WooCommerce.

Shopify & Shopify Plus builds
Conversion-focused storefronts on Shopify and Shopify Plus — including B2B, quoting, and freight workflows — built to launch fast and structured so your own team can run day-to-day merchandising without a developer on speed dial.
Theme development
Custom themes and Online Store 2.0 sections built to your brand, not bent from a marketplace template — fast, accessible, and Core Web Vitals-friendly, so design never comes at the cost of conversion.
App & API integrations
Custom Shopify apps and API work that connect the store to the rest of the business: ERP, freight, payments, marketing platforms, and headless storefronts on the Storefront API.
Migrations from Magento & WooCommerce
Structured migrations from Adobe Commerce (Magento) and WooCommerce that preserve SEO, order history, and integrations while cutting total cost of ownership. Because we run enterprise Magento platforms ourselves, our advice on whether to move is grounded, not a sales pitch.
Shopify Plus, when it earns its keep
Plus is not "Shopify but faster" — it is a different set of controls, and whether they are worth the licence depends on which of them you would actually use:
- Checkout Extensibility
Custom checkout UI and logic — the single most common reason a growing retailer genuinely needs Plus.
- Shopify Functions
Your own discount, shipping and payment rules running inside Shopify's backend rather than bolted on through apps.
- Flow & Launchpad
Operational automation, and scheduled events — flash sales and launches staged, themed and rolled back automatically.
- Expansion stores & B2B
Additional storefronts for new markets, and native B2B — company profiles, price lists and payment terms.
If none of those made you nod, standard Shopify with a well-built theme is probably the right answer — and we will say so. If you are weighing Plus against staying on Magento, that is exactly the call ourMagento to Shopify migrationwork exists to make honestly.
Platform-agnostic, on purpose
We're not a one-platform shop. Oure-commerce practice supports Australian retailers onAdobe Commerce (Magento) at enterprise scale, which means when we recommend Shopify — or recommend against it — the advice comes from running both sides of that migration. For the WooCommerce side of the question, we wrote uphow Shopify compares with WooCommerce for Australian retailers.
On LOOP we built the Shopify plugin that gives partner brands real-time sales and redemption tracking without adopting another platform. The enterprise commerce depth behind the migration advice comes fromAelia Duty Free — duty logic, live inventory and SAP integration on Adobe Commerce across airports in Australia and New Zealand.

Two Thirds of Australian Retail's Page Weight Isn't Theirs
We measured 21 of Australia's largest online retailers. None scored above 44. The median site ships 7MB, and 62% of it is third-party code the retailer didn't write.
What Does a Shopify Plus Build Cost in Australia?
What Shopify Plus actually costs Australian retailers — the platform fee, the transaction economics nobody models, and what drives a build quote up or down.
ERP Integration for E-commerce: What It Actually Costs
Why ERP integration is the line item that blows e-commerce budgets, the four questions that decide the price, and how to tell real-time requirements from imagined ones.
Adobe Commerce vs Shopify Plus for Australian Retailers
Where Adobe Commerce genuinely beats Shopify Plus, where it does not, and the three questions that actually decide it — from a team that builds on both.
Adobe Has Patched StyleSmuggler. Patching Is Not the Whole Job.
Adobe has released APSB26-146 for CVE-2026-75650. Apply it now — but a patch does not clean a store that was already compromised. What to preserve before you patch, what to check after, and the disclosure clock most coverage skips.
Selling Into Australia and New Zealand From One Store
Whether to run one store or two across the Tasman, what actually differs between AU and NZ commerce — GST, freight, currency — and the duplication that costs more than it solves.

Common questions
Can you migrate our store to Shopify from another platform?
Yes. Migrations from Magento, WooCommerce and bespoke carts are routine work. The parts that actually decide whether a migration goes well are the unglamorous ones: product and customer data mapping, preserving URLs so you keep your search rankings, and rebuilding integrations. We plan those first, because a migration that quietly loses your organic traffic is an expensive success.
Do you build custom Shopify apps and integrations?
Yes — private and custom apps, plus integrations with ERP, inventory, subscription and fulfilment systems. Where an off-the-shelf app does the job properly we will tell you to use it; custom work is for the cases where your process genuinely differs from the default.
Why choose Shopify over a self-hosted store?
Because hosting, security patching, PCI scope and platform upgrades stop being your problem, and for most retailers that is worth more than the flexibility given up. The checkout is well optimised and continuously improved by people whose full-time job it is. The trade-offs are real though: you pay platform fees, the checkout is only customisable within limits below Plus, and anything genuinely unusual about how you trade has to fit Shopify's model or live in an app.
Shopify or Shopify Plus — which do we need?
Most growing retailers do not need Plus. It becomes worth the step up when you need checkout customisation, scripted discounting, multiple storefronts or expansion stores, higher API limits, or the B2B features. If none of those describe you, standard Shopify with a well-built theme is the better spend.
Do you work with retailers in Melbourne and interstate?
Our head office is in Sydney and we work with clients across Australia — Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and regional NSW included — as well as in New Zealand, where the duty free stores across the major airports have run on a platform we build and support since 2021. Delivery has been remote-first for years, so a project runs the same way whether you are ten minutes away or across the Tasman: scheduled calls, a shared board you can see at any time, and one named point of contact. We are happy to meet in person in Sydney.
How much does a Shopify build cost in Australia?
Shopify keeps the platform cost predictable — you are paying a subscription rather than for hosting and core maintenance — so the build budget goes on theme work, integrations and data migration. A themed store with light customisation is a very different number from a Plus build with ERP and POS integration. It depends far more on integrations, content and certainty of scope than on page count, so we would rather scope it than quote a number blind. Our guide to what a website costs in Australia sets out the typical market ranges, and how we engage explains the models.
How long does a Shopify build take?
A themed store with standard apps can be live in weeks; a Plus build with catalogue migration, custom checkout logic and back-office integration runs to months. Migration timelines are driven by data quality more than by design. The honest answer is that scope decides it, not the platform. How we engage sets out the engagement models and the timeline ranges each one tends to run to, and we give you a milestone plan once we have scoped the work rather than a number before.
What happens to our SEO when we migrate to Shopify?
Migrations lose rankings when the redirect map is treated as a launch-week task. Shopify enforces its own URL structure for products and collections, so most stores cannot keep their existing paths — every indexed URL needs a mapped destination decided in advance. Done properly, a migration is a temporary dip rather than a permanent loss, and the difference is almost entirely planning.
Can Shopify handle B2B and wholesale pricing?
Shopify Plus has native B2B — company accounts, customer-specific catalogues and price lists, and payment terms — and it covers a good share of wholesale requirements without an app. Where it strains is deep account hierarchies, complex kits and bundles, or pricing logic that lives in an ERP and has to be honoured in real time. Those are worth testing against your actual rules before committing, not after.
When does Shopify stop being the right answer?
When the business logic you need sits at the checkout and the platform will not let you reach it, when your pricing rules are genuinely non-standard, or when the operational cost of working around a constraint exceeds the cost of running a platform you control. Catalogue size alone is rarely the reason — plenty of very large catalogues run happily on Shopify. It is the complexity of the rules around them that decides it.
Is a headless Shopify build worth it?
Sometimes, and less often than it is proposed. Headless earns its cost when content and commerce need to serve more than one destination, or when the front end must change independently of the platform. It costs you the editorial experience and adds moving parts, which small teams feel hardest. If a single storefront is the only consumer, the standard theme layer is usually the better engineering decision.
