Turning travel inspiration into on-site flight search for Exceptional Alien

The problem

Exceptional Alien shares the travel stories of exceptional creators around the globe. The website was purely informational. There was no way for an inspired reader to take action and begin their travel booking journey without leaving the site. A partnership with Skyscanner set the goal: flight search, integrated on-site.

Our approach

We created a new set of Destination pages (curations of the top things to do in each location, all recommended by locals) with filters spanning Food & Drink, Culture, Retail, Nature, Design, Accommodation, Wellness, Neighbourhoods and Events, viewable as a grid or on an interactive map. We integrated the Skyscanner widget so users can search flights without being redirected, and treated page-load speed as the overarching challenge on such a content-heavy site.

The outcome

Readers can now move from inspiration to planning in one place, researching a destination and searching flight availability without ever leaving Exceptional Alien.
